Pharmacy care in secure settings

A patient focused, primary care based Pharmacy service, based on identified need, is provided to prisoners. The service complies with legal requirements, professional standards and ethical codes is comparable to that provided by the National Health Service and is developed in line with PSI 28/2003 ‘A Pharmacy Service for Prisoners’.

We have developed risk assessment criteria that focus on the ability of a patient to manage responsibly the administration of their medicines and related devices. We understand the high risk of medicines abuse within the prison setting and help you to manage the risk by the use of a robust risk assessment tool and having prescribing policies that provide limitations for the supply medicines.

Our Pharmacies are Technician led, who dispense and deliver medicines direct to patients and counsel them. They are supported by Pharmacists, who by agreement will run clinics in a range of therapeutic areas, carry out medication reviews and enhance patients’ understanding of their medicines.

Our aims are to:

  • Improve patients’ knowledge and understanding of their medicines
  • Improve compliance and hence clinical outcome
  • Facilitate development of better self-care by patients
  • Reduce nursing time spent administering medicines
  • Reduce the cost associated with wasted medicines
  • Improve medicines management
  • Give patients access to pharmacy services

We provide a range of services that are flexible to meet the needs of both our customers and patients. Whatever your requirements, contact us to see how we can help.
